NTM-PARK
Site-specific festival centre / 2021
Public parks are spaces in the urban with free accessibility where the diversity of society can be experienced and lived. For the 21st Internationale Schillertage at the Nationaltheater Mannheim (NTM) — which took place under the theme "Together“ — Sven Bergelt and Kai-Hendrik Windeler developed a park scenery as festival centre. Framed by two kiosk architectures, which on the one hand were reminiscent of Persian/Egyptian kiosk models and on the other issues on the advertising aesthetics and function of today's kiosks, the NTM-Park became a place to play and linger, as well as for concerts and artistic interventions. With the architectures, artificial landscape and the large-format lettering in different languages, the park established a connection to the urban society and referred to the integrative potential of urban open spaces.
